ABOUT THE ARTIST
I I grew up in Vík í Mýrdal, where nature and the forces surrounding me shaped who I am.
I graduated from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavík and later from the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, Germany.
For the past 35 years, I have exhibited my work and participated in art events all over the world.
I now live in Lejre, Denmark, and have resided here for the past 33 years.
My work emerges from what surrounds me daily. Everything close to me, both in my external and internal life, becomes the material for my art. The world is vast—sometimes too vast—but the small can also be great, even overwhelming. It is in what I can grasp and connect with that my ideas and creativity flourish.
I use the tools and media that best suit each idea and support what I want to express. Sometimes it is drawing, photography, embroidery, ceramics, or oil painting.
